Can't find Carbon.h

It seems this happens often. I'm working away on a program and suddenly, some header file is no longer "found" and the project has to be junked.
In this case I'm suddenly getting this:
/System/Library/Frameworks/AudioUnit.framework/Headers/AudioUnitCarbonView.h:20:28: error: Carbon/Carbon.h: No such file or directory
I have the Carbon framework added to the project. This was building and running just fine a few minutes ago. Now, I cannot for the life of me get it to find this file or any other old style carbon mac types.
Why?
