my problems with X-code "build"

  • Subject: my problems with X-code "build"

Hi,

I'm at uni learning Java Programming, and we're using Apple Macs with X-Code.

I have a Post Script below with more about my machine.

My Apple i-Mac with X-code - at home - has a problem. Once I build a project (small number of Java classes) and once it compiles once, then to update after further changes I have to first delete the class files in the bin folder, and the java achive jar file in the dist folder.

I.e. at some early point I can't update further changes in my program, and only the old version of the program keeps running.

After I delete the older class files in the bin folder, and after I delete the older java archive file in the dist folder - then my .java files in the src folder will update ok, creating new class and jar files (so the new, update program runs).

I've tried 'clean' - but sometimes I lose valuable files that aren't rebuild on compile (e.g. an html file and gif images).

I've also tried the 'touch' command - but I can't seem to get it to work (e.g. I can't get any "symbol" to come up under the column with hammer symbol (for build)).

Please help if you can, or please forward to a suitable address.

Thanks & best wishes, Peter Dunne. (Perth, Western Australia)

PS
* I have at home an Apple iMac with MacOS X 10.4
* I think it has about 530 MB memory and it is "PPC" type CPU (I think, or similar name) not "intel type" I believe.
* I also just downloaded J2SE 5.0 Release 1 - to fit in with my uni guides/instructions.
