X-Code project Settings

Hello,

Under the "Project" menu there is an option to either "Edit Project Settings" , "Edit Active Target someProject" or "Edit Active Exectuable someProject"
What is the major difference between these three.

My thinking is that the latter two are specific to either the active target or active executable whilst changing settings in the first would affect the "whole" project. Is that right?

thanks,

George.
