You are using deprecated Jam-style builds, from the Project Builder era. Upgrade your target to a Native Target and many, many things will work better, especially dependency analysis.

And that was the answer. Thanks, Chris. I guess I should go read the XCode 2 User Guide. So many manuals, so little time. (Still, I don't think I ever read the XCode 1 User Guide and still managed to make things work. ;) )
