So is this a bug within XCode then? How would one go about reporting

...Xcode uses the same tools that you potentially used from the command line.
Need to know exactly what works and exactly how your project is
configured (or at least the build command it uses when building... in
the build results window click the second to last widget in the lower
left corner to open the "build transcript".
