Hugh,

This sounds very familiar to two of my recent threads:

"Perforce vs Xcode 3 => 100% cpu usage"

and

"Xcode 3 vs SCM vs Project Root vs LARGE code base"

Matt

P.S It would have been nice to provide a link to those two threads, but searching the lists at lists.apple.com wouldn't find them.

I have created a couple of new projects in V3 patterned after older projects - not upgraded, but created from scratch.
I setup and enabled perforce as the SCM and figured out the Project Root stuff. This was all working fine.
Now, after adding a batch of targets (18) with associated files, XCode crashes when trying to open the project. I deleted the $username.mode1v3 and $username.pbxuser files (which contain the SCM info) and restarted - the project works ok (except, of course, for no SCM). When I try to re-enable perforce as the project SCM, XCode promptly crashes. The crash reports indicate XCode is busy getting SCM status in one thread (not necessarily the one that crashes, though).

Has anyone else had this problem and perhaps figured out a workaround? (I'm currently just not enabling SCM, but that's a real pain).
