It appears to be some system-wide feature. It happens in Safari and TextEdit too. I find it highly distracting. The blinking is a little too much for the brain to comprehend, plus you have to wait for the 0.75 second or so it takes for the yellow round rect to fade away so you can see the characters on either side of the found text. That feature is fine in something like Safari where a page can be filled with crap and you need the extra help in visually locating the found text, but in Xcode, where all text is the same font and size and all that, it's just a distraction that wastes a bit of time.
