I can't find any documentation relating to the run log going away with Leaopard/Xcode 3 but I no longer can find one. Extracting NSLog output from the Console application is not what I consider to be an improvement. So have I missed something in the doc, the preferences, or setup?

I had the same problem.

Go to the Xcode debugging preferences and choose "Show Console" from the "On Start" popup. That should do what you want.
