Recursive Search path 'special' directories

According to
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/DeveloperTools/Conceptual/XcodeUserGuide/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/05_04_bs_build_settings/chapter_32_section_5.html
:
"
Note: Xcode does not search the contents of certain bundle structures
and other special directories. These
are .nib, .lproj, .framework, .gch, .xcodeproj, CVS
and .svndirectories, as well as any directory whose name is in
parentheses.
"
Is there any way to add to the list of directory names that should not
be searched (either per-project or globally to Xcode)?
(Wrapping the unwanted directory names in parentheses is not an option)
Thanks
Matt Gough
