Changing Working Directory

I am using XCode 3.0, and compiling a Java Ant Application.
This creates the executable '.......app' in a 'dist' folder, however this app requires certain configuration files to run properly.
I therefore wish to 'run' this app in a different working directory, but it does not seem to matter that I change the 'Set working directory to' setting in the Executable 'Get Info' page - it still uses the 'dist' directory.
