Let's say I make a framework that uses the usual retain/release
mechanisms, but I want to use GC anyway. So I turn on GC support, but
do not turn on the "GC required" option.
What effect does this have on the framework's backward compatibility?
Will the framework still be loadable in applications running under
Tiger? Panther? Earlier?
Now what if the application uses GC? What then?
I'm not really sure, but one thing I discovered that might interest
you
to know, is that Rosetta does not support GC-applications.
GC-only and GC-on both require Leopard, even when the compiled code is
running non-GC.
