Use the floating debugger panel, so you don't have to switch Xcode front and back to continue.

See the Menu "Run > Mini Debugger"

Else, it should be possible to "cmd + clic" on the "continue" button when the Xcode window is in the background (and you app is activated), to continue without bringing Xcode front.
