Yep, thats exactly what I did I just left it at default for 10.5. I’m guessing if I build a package for 10.4.x then I will get that option back?.....Well yea I just answered that question if I choose 10.4 then I get that option back. The 10.5 way is a lot more secure though it seems, but its useful to have the ability to open the package and see its contents sometimes.

I think I had this question before and figured it out and just forgot. I just got done moving our clients and my machine to Leopard and started to use the latest package maker again, I think I ran across the same issue before when I was testing PackageMaker 3 out when Leopard first shipped.

You have different ways to look at the contents of a FLAT package:

- If you have installed the developer tools, you can use the FLAT Package Editor (it will be listed in the Open With Finder contextual menu).

- If you're interested by the payload, you can use the excellent Pacifist utility. BTW, if you're just interested by the payload you can also use Installer.app to display the files in the payload. But Pacifist is way much better.

- If you like Terminal.app, you can use the pkgutil tool (http:// developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/ pkgutil.1.html)

- If you like compiling, you can download the xar source code and extract the contents of a FLAT package.
