The project in question has a huge directory of files for an application I'm about to port, and it's very likely you put your finger on the problem; now I certainly have a plan for attacking it tomorrow.

Hey Doug -

I believe that this occurs when IB attempts to read the image files
from your project and encounters a file with an extension that makes
it look like an Image when the file really isn't an image. For
example, having an empty file in your project with a .tiff extension
will probably cause this problem.
