Indent prefs on a per-project basis?

For my personal projects I prefer that indents be represented with a
tab character. However, for projects I am working on with other
people, the preference is already stated simply be historical
convention of the projects' massive existing codebase that indents be
represented with spaces. I am constantly forgetting to switch the
indent preference back and forth as I switch from one project to the
other.
I see the tab settings in the preferences, and I see it under the View
menu, but these seem to be global settings.
I realize this a long shot, and I looked through the project
preferences already (may have missed something), but is there any way
to set this preference on a per-project basis? I have XCode 3.
