I'm just a newbie in programming for OS X using XCode. I'm running
through Aaron Hillegass's new edition (3rd), which covers XCode 3.0
and
IB 3. I can't seem to get through the most basic example because I
keep running into an obstacle with Interface Builder. After
completing
the interface, adding the controller and connecting the controller
with
the objects, it tells me to save the nib file (xib in this case). The
moment I try to save the Xib file, I get an error message telling me
that I don't have the proper permissions to write to the Xib file. It
suggests that I use Finder|Get Info to change permissions. When I go
to finder, or I go out to a Terminal window and examine the
permissions
on the xib file under Unix (ls -al), I clearly have read and write
permissions. This doesn't seem to matter to Interface Builder.
So, I guess I should ask whether this is a known issue and is there a
workaround, or is there something wrong with the way I've got Xcode
set
up. It is the default installation. I find that I have this problem
whether I use Xcode 3.0 from the Leopard original installation, or the
various betas that also include code for that device with service from
ATT.
Any help, suggestions, or advice.
Many thanks.
What the finder says when you check the permissions of the enclosing
folder ?
