References to linked products

Hello,

When I set a product as a dependency of another one from another project, I usually set the path to the header files, and the path to the compiled library binary. If I don't drag the dyld file to the project tree and set it as a dependency of the target, it doesn't link. Only when I set the reference to the dependency in the tree, the link succeeds. Why ?

I can see the -L flag on the compiler command line in the build window.

If I am building a target in debug, I set my dependencies to debug. If in release, I will have to change the reference (or the path) to the dependency to be the release version. Is there a way to make this switch automatically ?

Thanks
