does anyone know, am i clueless?

Some people use the Default or All-in-One Layouts, instead of opening each file in its own window, and use the Detail view to cycle through files in a group or smartgroup.

Some use Control-1 to pop open the file navigator and use the arrow keys to navigate through that list.

People who use Condensed view or otherwise open a lot of files in separate windows use the standard Mac OS gesture of Control-F4 to cycle through windows.

Others use the built-in Exposé functionality to show all windows and use the Tab and arrow keys to select among them.
