both I and a fellow programmer (on completely separate projects)
have recently noticed an odd thing happening with Xcode (2.4.1, in
Tiger), when it's running ResMerger. Sometimes, for no apparent
reason, it reports a failure.
The details suggest that it failed to find something .rsrc file (a
file created with Resourcerer which contains some bitmaps, cursors,
etc.). (The missing item isn't anything we actually have in that
file, and we have no idea why it's looking for it in the first place!)
The *really* strange thing is that when it DOES fail, if you Build
again, it always fails a second time. But if you Build a third
time, it always succeeds!?!
Has anyone else observed this odd behavior? What might be causing
it? I searched the web and newsgroups, and only found mention that
having resource files which are too large *might* cause the error.
But our resources aren't at that limit. (The largest is 8.4mb.)
And that wouldn't explain why, when it does fail, it always fails
twice, then succeeds.
This is fixed in Leopard.
