What architectures is your target built for? What's the setting of Project > Active Architecture?

I suspect you're trying to execute an architecture your target's not
built for.

i386, it's the only option. I can take the exact same Xcode project, stick it on my macbook, and it'll debug fine. I can reinstall leopard from scratch on my iMac, but I'd rather not do that if there's another way around this.

Does /usr/bin/arch exist?

If not, you may have to reinstall the System Tools.
