Code sign issues

I switched the configuration from "iPhone Simulator" to "Device 3.0", clicked build and got the following:
"Code Sign error: The identity 'iPhone Developer' doesn't match any valid certificate/private key pair in the default keychain"

I googed this and tried the what i found, which was to change the default keychain, but that didn't work.

I want to get Xcode to compile my iPhone app so that I can upload it to the Apple Store.  I presume that's what the "Device 3.0" is for, and if so, what do i have to do to get XCode to compile?
