"No such file or directory"

I am trying to build a release version of a source-tree that builds fine in the debug version, and I am getting numerous "No such file or directory" errors on my includes. The includes are of the form:

#include <CGAL/Cartesian/Cartesian_base.h>

I have "/usr/local/cgal/include" (the location of the CGAL includes) in the User Header Search Paths of both the Debug and Release configurations; I also have "Always Search User Paths" checked in both configurations.

Googling seems to indicate that it might be a problem with the frameworks settings, but I can't find any difference there between the Debug and Release settings. Any advice? (I'm using Xcode 3.1.4 under Mac OS 10.5.7.)
