Whilst I can understand the reason for not having an API that lets
applications enable/disable 'access for assistive devices' on-the-fly, I
really think that there should be some way of getting the user to enable
this preference without having to explain opening 'Universal Access' and
clicking the relevant check-box. It is a nightmare having to try and explain
these steps in software.
It would be nice to have something like the Authentication API stuff that
comes up with a dialog of the sort:
***
Application "XYZ" wants to enable access for assistive devices. Do you want
to allow this? (This may leave your computer vulnerable to viruses etc)
[Cancel] [Allow]
