Hi,
We are in the same boat (for a very large ISP) as also need away to detect
this (rdar://4147613 entered June 05).
Would you mind clarifying why you want to detect VoiceOver, there is
other assistive technology software (including ours, see
http://www.assistiveware.com) relying on the exact same features
VoiceOver relies on. Do you also want to detect the presence of such
third party software? Or do you want to break the carefully
implemented access features that third party software provides for
people with physical or vision impairments to allow them to access
and use their computer? Or, what if a third party develops an
alternative screen reader that perhaps would not use voice but
tactile or braille output (and perhaps be a useful alternative to
some people), would you break that software or would your software
break...
A concerned assistive technology developer,
