All I can suggest is that you search the archives of this list. The
accessibility engineers have, on several occasions, explained that certain
notifications are implemented only for certain kinds of UI elements, while
the name of the notification and the documentation suggest that it should
have broader application. There are also a number of messages indicating
differences between Carbon and Cocoa implementations.
I should have cataloged them as I went along, but I neglected to do that.
