1. When a square on the puzzle is first selected, the associated
clue is announced, along with the currently entered answer letters
for that that word, and the cursor position within that word. For
instance, when the user selects the first word in this puzzle:

Just had a thought after viewing you pic (should have done that
before ;)
maybe you could use a hierarchy of nsviews? ie crossowrd->Word-
>character ?
Then you could interact with each view to see the subviews inside it
then the ones inside that? this would all be transparent to the
sighted user of course.
A bit nested I know but then VO would pass the events up the chain
from the lowest level, right?
Please correct me if my conceptions are incorrect.
Accessibility is one of those ares where thinking outside the box
requires understanding of whats in the box and how it works first.
