I'm wondering if there's any way to allow vo to read text
automatically when it changes on the screen. Currently I have an
application that reads pdf files. The only (slight) issue is that
when you move to a new page, you need to tell vo to read the page via
vo-A for read all, or by moving away then back to the text area in
which the pdf page is displayed. I would like vo to be able to read
the text automatically when the page changes (assuming of course the
vo user hasn't gone off to do something else before the page finishes
updating of course)
Now that I think of it, Mail is about the only app I can think of that
actually does this (when you press enter on a message, it comes up in
a new window, and reads automatically) That's the kind of behavior I'd
like, but I don't really want to open a new window for each page of
the pdf file, though perhaps that's not a bad idea if the old window
could be disposed of beforehand. Hmm, perhaps something to try.
Generally, I'm opposed to anything that forces vo to do things w/o my
telling it to, so I'm not asking for solutions that will take control
of vo and force it to refocus, or yank me out of any other app (like
magic jack does) but just to autoread the text when it comes up with
the new page on it. It would make reading books and magazines in pdf
format a bit easier.
Admittedly, this is by no means required, it works fine as it is, I'm
just trying to make it simpler for folks, that's all.
Again, no solutions that effectively yank vo out of other apps, or
things that trick vo into thinking things that aren't happening, I'm
just looking for a quick solution (perhaps changing the display area
to some other type of control perhaps) that will give vo the ability
to autoread when the text area changes.
Something quick and simple would be best.
I'm a vo user myself, so any solutions would be thoroughly tested
before being included in the final product. :)
Thanks for any suggestions.
