Hi folks,
I'm trying to work through some accessibility issues in a Java
application I've written.
I've used the Java API to try and fill in the necessary accessibility
items, but it's been reported that screen readers still won't play
nice.
Would this be the proper list for my questions or would this be better
asked on the Java list?
Not sure which elements are misbehaving, but I've had no trouble
with java on OSX. But, I've always stuck to standard java
elements, I.E. predefined layouts such as grid for buttons, and
used standard containers for objects. Now, if you're talking about
applets, that's a different story. So far, (but I've not tried
*real* hard) I've been unable to get those to behave under
voiceover, because of the graphical nature of writing to most of the
text areas in web applets. Stand-alone java apps have no problem so
far that I've found.
It's been nearly a year since I messed with java under osx and
voiceover though, so it's possible things have changed, but when I was
using it regularly, I had no problems with anything, it just all
worked right out of the box.
I use voiceover for my everyday computer usage, so if you need another
tester, let me know. Perhaps it's just a matter of using a different
(but similar) element to solve the problem.
