Great feature request! I agree it would be really awesome if the VoiceOver caption panel was ported to iOS. On the Android side, TalkBack has a setting to view spoken text output like the caption panel, though their’s has serious contrast problems.
It’s not possible to run an iOS app through the Accessibility Inspector in the iOS Simulator if you don’t have the Xcode project which I never do for my clients. I always have to do live testing on the device with VO running. I’d really love to be able to take screenshots of Accessibility problems displayed in the VO caption panel on iOS! Definitely would make my job easier :) And easier for the developers to understand the Accessibility problem!
Also testing certain features of apps won’t work in the simulator like testing camera functionality.
It is a good point that while VoiceOver is accessible to deaf and hard of hearing folks on OS X, there’s no way they can use it on iOS… unless they learn Braille that is ;)
I say file as an enhancement request.
