Contextual Menus in OS X?

[Cross posted to Mac-L and AppleScript Users lists. Apologies to those on both lists.]

Greetings,

Can someone tell me whether or not OS X will support/sport contextual menus and AppleScript as we know them in OS 8 and 9?

The reason I ask is this...I use a contextual menu module which allows me to open a file with whichever application I choose from the contextual menu (pre-configured with aliases of chosen apps). I've recently created a droplet (AppleScript) which stuffs a file, or group of files, into an existing, pre-determined .sit archive. With the contextual menu, and this droplet, I can now select a target file and have it added to the archive, all with one mouse click. If this type of behavior will continue in OS X, I plan to take advantage of this discovery (I just discovered it anyway). If not, I won't waste too much time on it.

Thanks for any feedback you might provide. :-)

Later,
