Your only choice here is to check every few seconds to see if the event has happened. I notice in the eudora dictionary the notice command:

notice: Eudora sends this event to notify an application that something happened

with one of the parameters being "occurrence" mail arrives/mail sent/will connect/has connected/has manually filtered. Also start and stop notifying is in there so one of those may help you. Retrospect I don't have, but hopefully there's a "Still Backing Up" in there.
