Hi Jed,
No, you can't tell the Finder of the remote mac to display dialog because
display dialog is part of the standard additions osax and you can't tell
something that's not running to do anything.
I've been playing around with Timbuktu Pro today and it can probably do what
I need but seems a bit of overkill. I'm now trying AOL Instant Messenger
which, again, does what I need but looks pretty ugly.
