Here is a new solution for people that have wanted to set the default
folder.

Greg

12/7/00 - Default Folder 3.0.8 adds compatibility with Mac OS 9.1, Mac
OS X Classic, includes new Scripting Addition, and corrects several
compatibility problems. Default Folder 3.0.8 offers compatibility with
Mac OS 9.1 and the Classic environment in OS X. It also includes a
Scripting Addition that allows AppleScripts to set the folder for both
Standard File and Navigation Services Open and Save dialogs. In
addition, compatibility problems have been corrected for QuicKeys 5 and
MPW, and there is a workaround to add folders to the Recent Folders menu
even if they are on a Windows NT server that reports its folders as
being invisible. Go to the Default Folder 3.0.8 Release page for more
information and download links.
