There are four that help a _lot_ more. Three of them are commercial:
Scripter, Scripter Personal Edition, and Script Debugger. The first and
last cost about $200, I think, and the middle one $95, I believe. There is
also Smile, which is free. People will tell you all about their favorite
one. You can also read a comparison at

I use Smile. If you're interested, you can read a review of it I wrote with

which also has a review of Scripter and Scripter Personal Edition. Other
people here will refer you to documentation for Script Debugger, published
by Late Night Software. There are links from Apple's AppleScript page as
