List Header suggestion

I'm really very happy with the new list format, especially now that I've heard the suggestions for suppressing many of the annoying list headers.

The numbering of the messages in the list is really helpful in navigating to the particular msg of interest. (I used to lose my way a lot and have to pay really close attention while scrolling).

Something I've always wanted to see is the ability to link to a msg by option-clicking on its table of contents entry, just like linking within a webpage. Is there any way to imbed this behavior in email text without including all of the html tags that are needed to make the digest a fullblown html document?
