You could try using one of the scriptable script editors that you say you
own but don't use much.

In Smile, all I have to do is press the F5 key, which I've set to type

set AppleScript's text item delimiters to

I even have another FKey set to type

set {ods, AppleScript's text item delimiters} to {AppleScript's text
item delimiters, {


all ready for the delimiter of choice to be inserted. I have other keys that
type

& return & return &

buttons {"OK"} default button "OK" with icon

and so on. It saves loads of time and aggravation.
