run script

Should

run script alias "path name"

directed to a compiled script in an application's internal script menu get
it to run?

I can't get a script in the Entourage script menu folder to run this way
(from another such script). Error: AppleEvent timed out. But if I set up an
Entourage schedule to run the script and instead execute the schedule, i
runs exactly how I want.

Is there some other syntax needed under these circumstances to use the 'run
script osax? Does the script need an explicit run handler perhaps?
