One thing that I have noticed quite often is that application dictionaries rarely provide enough information. It seems that you must either be an experienced scripter to understand what the developer had in mind, or you must have a reference guide complete with samples in order to make heads or tails of it.

Is this a problem due to AppleScript's English syntax? The problem with basing a computer language on a spoken language is that there are too many ways to say what you mean, and it appears to be a challenge of AS to present the information in a fashion that makes sense to everyone at first blush.
