Going back over the Scripter 2.5 and Scripter Personal Edition Help files, I
am reminded of the following differences between the products:
These advanced Scripter 2.5 features are not included in Scripter Personal
Edition:
-ScriptBase, the persistent value and object database for AppleScript, which
is integrated into Scripter 2.5 through various menu commands. ScriptBase is
available as part of an upgrade from Scripter Personal Edition to Scripter
2.5 and also as a separate product.
-The Call Box, which is used to debug handlers directly, including handlers
that aren't accessed from an explicit or implict Run handler. Examples
include an Idle or Open handler and handlers contained in a script library.
-Various interapplication messaging debugging features, such as applet
simulation ("message catching" and "listening") and live editing, which are
useful for debugging cgi scripts and other scripts that respond to Apple
events originating from other applications or system components.
-The Object Prober, a window that lets you examine "live" objects that are
currently present in a running scriptable application that supports the
object model. (This is different from the Object Map, a window that lets you
examine the hierarchy of objects in a scriptable application's dictionary,
which is included in Scripter Personal Edition.)
-The online Apple Help system does not include those Scripter 2.5 Help
topics that relate to features that are not included in Scripter Personal
Edition.
I will add this text to the Scripter review on The AppleScript Sourcebook
once I have confirmation from a couple of people who know even more about
Scripter than I do.
