Cmd-Shift-4 is not the screen dump fkey.

It's set up for a selection or window dump.

Cmd-Shift-3 is the screen dump.

Hmm. I have good luck with it, but it's not scriptable.

Try Jon's Commands

execute FKEY 3

tell application "Finder"
tell startup disk
update
files whose file type is "PICT"
end tell
end tell
