there'as an extremely simple solution to your problem - use the OC 'open'
command rather than the Applescript command. It doesn't execute as fast
as using 'Applescript' but it's 100%, absolutely reliable and doesn't
suffer the problem you refer to.

Generally speaking, embedding AS (in OC) works OK but (IME) it doesn't
enjoy running many repetitions of scripts which move into and out of
several tell blocks.

We moved to the open command for some complex AS we were calling and have
_never_ had a failure (and we use these buttons several _thousand_ times
a day)
