Just as a bit more on the group experience of this one - I also had crashing
problems on the choose file problem, although it only crashed on files saved
by Photoshop, and the odd Illustrator file. Everything else seemed to work
fine. I was running OS8.1 at the time.

It did give me an excuse to upgrade to 8.6, and all's well.
