Bug Report - Applescript 1.6 extension and Handle CGI Request

  • Subject: Bug Report - Applescript 1.6 extension and Handle CGI Request
  • From: email@hidden

Symptom: if a script containing a "Handle CGI Request" handler is not already
running when called by WebSTAR, a "Document contains no data" error occurs.
If the script is already running when the CGI handler is called, it behaves
correctly.

I've now done enough testing to state with confidence that this is a
reproducible bug (2 G3 systems with MacOS 9.1 and WebSTAR 4.4, multiple tests
with the 1.6 and 1.5.5 extensions). The problem lies with the Applescript 1.6
extension. Replacing with the 1.5.5 extension fixes the problem (sadly, 1.5.5
has other bugs).

The Standard Additions were left at v1.6 for all tests.

The problem appears related to the size of the script containing the CGI,
smaller scripts occasionally launching and handling the CGI request without
incident (but not consistently).

Chris Nebel, how do I formally submit this as a bug? And what are the chances
it will be fixed before Classic sales off into the sunset?
