It turned out that there are some hidden defaults. By making them explicit
and posting in the form

download theurl to thefile form data
{"QUERY00=climber&SAVEDB=ananova&ORGANISE_CODED=R:date&DAYSMINUS=5"} -- all
on one line

I got what I wanted! Cool. Thanks again to Jeff for setting me right.
