Michael,
You may not need any additional scripting capability beyond Photoshop. Check
out the "automate->batch" menu. Set it to run an action of your choice. Have
the "override open" checkbox turned off. Then the photoshop action palette
should be able to record the settings you need. Actions can record open and
closing settings, pretty cool.
Alternatively, I set my default resolution and colorspace & then turn
override on. This seems easier to me because all of my images are the same
resolution.
