Hi guys,
thanks for your help.

I am going with a two-step solution
set staircase to load script file y
initialise(parameterList) of staircase

All the solutions involving a built-in creator for a script loaded from file
are hard to read, and my solution is for end-users to actually write
scripts, so it needs to be understandable immediately.

The other solutions, however, opened my eyes to the run script, and parent
properties, which may be useful in future work. I recommend that readers
check out the AppleScript guide.
