It should look like this:
tell application "Desktop Printer Manager" to set default printer to desktop
printer "LaserJet 5"
set Print_file to "HD:foo:bar.ps" -- path to you file
set Printer_loc to "HD:Desktop Folder:your printer:" -- path to your printer
tell application "Finder"
copy file Print_file to alias Printer_loc
end tell
OK, this is getting closer.
This apparently does put the file in the Printer--
however, the printer rejects it "because it is not a valid printer
file", generating an error message from the finder and moving the
file out of the printer onto the desktop. (Starting with the third
experiment, the finder and Scripter seem to deadlock somehow so the
error message isn't visible anymore. Things continue OK after waiting
for a timeout or a Cmd-.).
But it _is_ a valid file, and manually dragging it onto the printer
works fine with no complaints.
Just to make sure the creator and type weren't a problem, I copied
them from a PostScript file generated by "print to file". No change.
Any ideas how to get past this problem?
