Interrupting Quark script to make an edit

How do I write a script that allows for user editing of Quark in
mid-script? For instance, I have a script that looks for paragraphs styled
"No Style", which should instead always have some explicit style applied.
My script can find such paragraphs, highlight the text in them, and display
a dialog that the text should be edited, with an OK button to press.

The OK button here merely indicates that the user has seen the message, not
that the edit has been done. In other words, pressing OK just moves on
through the script, which loops through subsequent paragraphs looking for
one styled "No Style". Instead, I want the script to pause to allow the
style editing to happen, after which the user presses a "Continue" button
for the script to continue looking at the remaining paragraphs until it
reaches the end of the text flow.

How does one pass control back and forth between application and script in
such a fashion?
