Logitech is know for their troublesome drivers.

"Troublesome" is far too polite. For the last few months, I've been
reverting to the basic Apple mouse drivers whenever I needed to write
AppleScripts.

You can keep the mouse, just do not install their drivers.

Ever. Seriously. And don't touch the Logitech MouseWare 4.0 release, if you
find it anywhere- Logitech pulled it and reverted to 3.5.1a instead, for
good reasons.

Rather, install USB overdrive. It is highly recommended and works with all usb

You'll need to kill 3 files from the the Logitech Mouseware package- The
Mouseware control panel, the Mouseware extension and the USB Mouseware
Module.
Disable them completely before installing USB overdrive, or else you can
experience some nasty, unexpected driver conflicts, including system bombs.
If you are using Conflict Catcher, they might not all show up-For some
reason, on certain systems, they just don't ID properly. You can either add
them to a group manually (in the group screen, select "Add custom file") or
just trash those three files.

There should (eventually) be no need of mouse-specific drivers under OS X-
It has built in support for *some* basic functions- left & right click, and
scroll-wheel.
However, there is a catch: Not all apps have written in support for these
functions yet, and some of them do not properly support it.
At this time, it looks like only a few Carbon apps have the support
implemented properly, but most Cocoa apps do, at least based on the ones
that I am using.
