Slightly too strong a statement. Try locking an applet which has a global
whose value is obvious (such as a counter of the number of executions shown
by display dialog).

[I seem to remember that in the early days, locking such an applet produced
an error when it became frustrated about being unable to its new
value(s)...but I could easily be wrong.]
